Seiyuu Appreciation Day - The King of Snark
His voice is snarky and nasal and he speaks with a lazy drawl in many of his roles. Whenever you hear Kenichi Suzumura in an anime, you know he's going to be fun. =D
He's the deadpan baby-faced swordsman Sougo Okita, Hijikata's constant foil, in Gintama:
... the 6'10" candy and snack-obsessed Atsushi Murasakibara in Kuroko's Basketball:
And you can hear him now in I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying as Hajime the husband:
SuzuKen is one of the top-tier or near top-tier seiyuu and he also has a successful singing career, notably as part of an all-seiyuu vocal group called Starmen (others in the group include Junichi Suwabe, Hiroyuki Yoshino and Kosuke Toriumi).
I recognized Suzumura recently while watching I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying. It took me about four or five of his spoken lines, and then I knew it was him. The role of Hajime isn't particularly snarky but Suzumura's voice just naturally makes the character sound snarky.
Here - until You Tube removes it, of course - is a compilation of some of Kenichi Suzumura's roles:
Suzumura is also known for playing Shinn Asuka, the main character in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny, which is unfortunately one of the most hated Gundam series. I'm sure it wasn't Suzumura's fault; something in the writing and/or directing must've gone awry. :/
As an aside, Suzumura is married to another famous seiyuu, Maaya Sakamoto.
I'd wondered if there were any Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie Hollywood royalty-type marriages among Japanese seiyuu. I only follow certain male seiyuu, so I wouldn't know enough female seiyuu to start pairing them all up in my mind, fun as that would be. ;-)
At least we have one. We'll call the Suzumura-Sakamoto marriage the official Tokyo seiyuu royalty marriage. =D

I Can't Understand What I'm Doing Watching This...
... when I have so little time in my schedule right now that I haven't even started watching some of the shows that are on my watchlist. But Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken (I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying) is so funny and charming that I can't help but watch it.
Kaoru and Hajime are married. From their wedding ceremony in episode 1, when Hajime tells her he doesn't think he can make her happy and Kaoru replies that each of them should just try to make themselves happy, this series is about real married life between two very real and non-cliche (particularly anime cliche) people.
Kaoru works in an office and Hajime stays at home and works - kind of - as a blogger. In later episodes he gets a job as a web designer for a strange witchy lady.
Hajime is an otaku and proud of it. He has a cross-dressing brother. Kaoru gets aroused when drunk and chases Hajime for sex.
I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying is based on a 4-koma manga. It's very funny. I've now powered through the first seven episodes.
Seven episodes? How did I do that with my current crazy schedule?
Um... each episode is three minutes long.
This is why I can't say too much about it. If I do, I'll spoil each episode I discuss. The best thing to do is to watch it. Here's the first episode (from Crunchyroll). Enjoy!

Supporting the Industry - What I Did in October 2014
A quick post, as it was another light month for spending on anime and manga.
I bought my registration for Anime Los Angeles 2015. And the following coin purse caught my eye at Anime Jungle.
Ah, Kon. Kon is one of my favorite characters in Bleach. Tite Kubo explained at his Comic Con 2008 panel that Kon has a seam running down the middle of his face for no particular reason. The seam wasn't a design necessity, it just shows he's a cheap stuffed animal that a child got as a consolation prize at a fair and abandoned face-down in the middle of a street. :-(
I recently bought a Pakkun coin purse at Anime Jungle - I'm on a roll with these odd little purchases. Pakkun is the leader of Kakashi's gang of ninja dogs in Naruto.
And speaking of Naruto - the manga just ended. I'm still trying to decide if I should spoil the ending for myself or not. I'm leaning toward not, but if I hear that the anime won't end until late next year that may decide it for me. As in - I'll look it up.
It would be hard to wait that long to learn the ending. Besides, I don't trust that all Naruto fans are going to be able to keep it in. I already don't read the comments section when watching Naruto Shippuuden episodes on Crunchyroll because I know some people are going to comment without using the spoiler tag. This was to be expected as we got close to the end of the story.
Well, we'll see. The manga just ended and I've managed to avoid reading anything about the ending so far. We'll see how long that holds. XD
